Workshop installations across Southern Africa
Every project in this gallery is a workshop that Hurricane Equipment has supplied, delivered and commissioned since 2006. Most are panel shops and dealership body shops in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape, but a growing share are cross-border projects in Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and further into Africa. The work ranges from a single spray booth dropped into an existing building, through to a bare-floor fit-out where we set out the booth, prep bay, chassis bench, two-post lifts, compressor room and air reticulation as one coordinated installation.
We photograph completed sites because equipment specifications on paper rarely answer the question workshop owners actually have: what will this look like in my building, and will it fit? Seeing a 7-metre downdraught booth installed in a 400 m² unit, or a chassis bench working under a low-truss roof, is usually more useful than a datasheet.
What a typical installation includes
A spray booth installation covers the booth structure, burner and air handling unit, ducting runs and stack, electrical panel and commissioning. Where the building allows, we install a pit; where it does not, we use a ramped floor. Paint room and prep deck projects add mixing benches, extraction and lighting rated for solvent use.
Chassis repair projects usually combine a bench or straightener with a measuring system, clamping sets and a dent puller station. For insurance-approved shops we supply manufacturer-approved equipment — Toyota, Volkswagen and Audi approved chassis systems — so the workshop can be signed off for warranty and insurance repairs.
Mechanical and general workshops in the gallery typically include two-post and scissor lifts, screw compressors with dryers and filtration, tyre changers and balancers, welding bays and tool storage.
Questions we get asked about these projects
How long does a workshop fit-out take?
A single spray booth is normally installed and commissioned in five to ten working days once it is on site and the civil work is ready. A full fit-out with booth, prep deck, chassis equipment and compressed air typically runs three to six weeks, depending on the building, power supply and how much floor preparation is needed.
Do you handle installation outside South Africa?
Yes. We package equipment for long-distance road and sea freight, prepare export documentation, and provide either on-site or remote installation supervision depending on the country and project size. See our export into Africa page for how freight and paperwork are handled.
What building requirements should I plan for?
The two limits that decide most projects are clear internal height and electrical supply. A standard car booth needs roughly 4 metres of clear height plus room for the plenum and ducting, and a three-phase supply sized for the fan and burner. Chassis benches need level, sound concrete and enough length in front of and behind the bench to work a full vehicle. We review your building dimensions and supply before quoting.
Can I see a working installation before I buy?
In most cases yes. We can arrange a visit to a reference site running similar equipment, or a walkthrough of our own showroom where booths, benches, lifts and compressors are set up.
Do you supply used or refurbished equipment?
Our standard supply is new equipment imported directly from the factories we work with, which keeps pricing competitive and parts availability predictable. Refurbished units come up occasionally — ask and we will tell you what is currently available.
What about servicing and spares after installation?
We keep consumables and wear parts for the equipment we supply, including spray booth filters, clamps, welding tips and compressor service kits, and we support South African installations with scheduled servicing.
