An air compressor is sized on delivered air volume and working pressure, not motor power alone. Add up the consumption of everything that runs at once — spray guns, sanders, air tools, booth equipment — and specify the compressor machine against that peak demand plus headroom.

- What size air compressor do I need for a spray booth?
- Size it on total air consumption at peak use rather than motor power. Add the CFM of every tool and spray gun that runs simultaneously, then allow headroom. Send us your equipment list and we will size the compressor for you.
- Piston or screw compressor — what is the difference?
- Piston compressors are best for intermittent use and have a lower purchase price. Screw compressors are designed for continuous duty, run quieter and cooler, and are the better long-term choice for spray booths and busy production workshops.
- What does an aircon regas machine cost in South Africa?
- It depends on whether you need an R134a machine, an R1234yf machine or a dual-gas unit, and on the level of automation. We supply automatic regassing stations and quote each model on request.
- Do I need an air dryer with my compressor?
- For any paint or refinishing work, yes. Compressed air carries moisture and oil that will contaminate a spray finish, so a refrigerated dryer and filtration should be specified with the compressor.
