A plasma cutter cuts conductive metal fast and cleanly with a narrow kerf and a small heat-affected zone, which is why panel shops use it for cutting out damaged sections without distorting the surrounding metal.
Machines are specified by cut capacity — the maximum material thickness a unit will sever and, more importantly, the thickness it will cut cleanly at production speed. Duty cycle and power supply phase matter just as much if the machine runs all day.
Consumables are the running cost. Tips, electrodes, swirl rings and shields wear with arc hours, and worn consumables are the usual cause of a ragged cut, so we keep spares available alongside the machines.
Clean cuts
Narrow kerf and small heat-affected zone for panel section replacement.
Cut capacity
Machines matched to the material thickness you actually cut.
Duty cycle
Specified for how continuously the machine will run in your shop.
Consumable spares
Tips, electrodes, swirl rings and shields kept in stock.
Clean dry air
Pairs with our compressors, dryers and filtration for consistent cut quality.

Plasma Cutters — frequently asked questions
- What does a plasma cutter cost in South Africa?
- Price depends on cut capacity, duty cycle and power supply phase. Machines are quoted individually — tell us the material thickness you cut and how continuously the machine will run.
- What thickness can a plasma cutter cut?
- Every machine has a rated sever thickness and a lower clean-cut thickness. Specify against the clean-cut rating for the material you cut most, not the maximum sever figure.
- Does a plasma cutter need an air compressor?
- Yes. Plasma cutters run on compressed air and the air must be clean and dry — moisture or oil shortens consumable life and spoils cut quality, so a dryer and filtration are recommended.
