Surface preparation decides the finish. A random orbital sander leaves a fine, non-directional scratch pattern that primer and topcoat fill cleanly, which is why it is the standard sanding machine for panel flatting and filler work.
Dust extraction is not optional in a modern shop. Vacuum-assisted sanders pull dust off the panel as it is cut, keeping abrasives cutting longer, improving visibility, reducing contamination in the booth and protecting operators from airborne particulate.
Polishers finish the job — removing sanding marks, orange peel and light defects after cure. We supply air and electric machines, backing pads and abrasives so the whole prep-to-polish chain is matched.
These tools run on clean, dry compressed air, so specify them alongside a correctly sized compressor and filtration.

- A random orbital (dual-action) sander is the standard choice. Its non-directional pattern avoids the deep swirl marks a rotary machine can leave, which show through the topcoat.
- Do I need a dust extraction vacuum with my sander?
- It is strongly recommended. Extraction keeps abrasive cutting efficiently, reduces booth contamination and limits operator exposure to sanding dust.
- What air supply do pneumatic sanders need?
- Each tool has a rated air consumption and working pressure. Add up everything running at once and size the compressor and dryer against that peak — we can specify both together.
